One of the primary ways the Navy League supports the sea services is through unit and ship adoptions. Navy League councils around the world provide support of personnel and their families from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S.-flagged Merchant Marine.
Councils also adopt youth programs such as the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Navy League Cadet Corps, Young Marines, and Junior Navy/Marine Corps ROTC programs.
The Kingsville Navy League has adopted six sea service commands for our targeted support:
The Commanding Officer of NAS Kingsville is CAPT Michael Bishop, USN, and the command's Executive Officer position us currently in a turnover state. The command's Command Master Chief is CMDCM Pamela Willingham, USN.
The NAS Kingsville Mission is to provide the best infrastructure, amenities and services possible to all tenants aboard NAS Kingsville in support of intermediate and advanced training of future Navy, Marine Corps and Allied strike fighter pilots.
The mission of Training Air Wing TWO is to fully prepare jet Naval Aviators for follow-on operational and combat training. Each year, approximately 150 Navy and Marine Corps student pilots report to Training Air Wing TWO, commanded by CAPT Aaron Rybar, for intermediate and advanced flight training. These students conduct their training as members of either Training Squadron TWENTY ONE or Training Squadron TWENTY TWO, ultimately earning the coveted Wings of Gold.
The Fighting Redhawks of Training Squadron TWENTY-ONE have been a mainstay of Naval Aviation for over 57 years. The first Navy and Marine Corps students were trained in the F-6F Hellcat. In May 1954, the squadron transitioned to its first jet aircraft, the F-9F Panther with the squadron later operating the F-9F8 cougar, TA-4J Skyhawk and, in Feb 1992, making the final transition to the T-45 Goshawk.
Commanding Officer: CDR Michael Hooten, USN
Executive Officer: CDR Zachary Matthews, USN
Training Squadron TWENTY-TWO (VT-22), based at NAS Kingsville, TX, was founded June 13, 1949 as ATU-6. We conduct modern day Intermediate & Advanced flight training for Navy and Marine Corps Student Military Aviators (SMA) in the T-45C Goshawk. At the completion of their training, they will receive their coveted Wings of Gold & depart to fly the most advanced aircraft the Navy and Marine Corps have to offer.
Commanding Officer: CDR Cory Hanson, USN
Executive Officer: LtCol Sean Wolterman, USMC
USS Kingsville Commissioning Program:
"The men & women serving aboard KINGSVILLE are the absolute best & brightest of our Navy & are proud to represent the thousands of Sailors serving around the world today.
The ship's crest is emblazoned with the phrase "Tough and Competent," you will see KINGSVILLE Sailors embody this phrase. Every assignment, regardless of difficulty, is met with vigor & commitment to success.
Commanding Officer: CDR Ludwig Mann III, USN
Executive Officer: CDR John Kavanagh, USN
